The basketball court was always the first love for Fort Bend Marshall’s nationally top ranked wide receiver, Chris Marshall.

Now he’s become one of the top senior wide receivers recruits in the entire nation and close to making a commitment.

Marshall started playing football again his junior year, and saw his skills from the court translate seemingly to the gridiron.

In his junior year Marshall had 45 receptions go for just over 1,000 yards receiving and 18 touchdowns. Besides the fact of being dominant during the regular season last year and this year.

Marshall was also dominate playing in the nation circuit for fast Houston in the offseason in 7-on-7 play.

That is when I first saw Marshall play and I was taking back at not only the physical nature of this 6-foot-3, 195 receivers but also with his competitive spirit. Marshall knows he’s the best, vocalizes it and can back it up with his performance.

One of the best wide receivers recruits I have seen and one who I know will have long term success not only at the next level but possibly even beyond.

The top 3

Mid-October is when Marshall released his decision for his top three schools. Alabama, Texas A&M and USC made the list.

All three schools are are at the top of his list out of 24 division I offers. Marshall held offers to schools like Auburn, Baylor, LSU, Oregon, Texas, and others.

A recent interview was done last month, between Steve Wiltfong, and Chris’s family ,in particular Chris’s mother who was able to share their experiences on the recruiting trail so far, and how their take aways from their visits to Chris’s top three schools.

“Its been a crazy ride” Marshall’s mother explain to Wiltfong,  “Its just crazy. The recruiting process is overwhelming. It’s a blessing but its a-lot”.

Marshall’s mother would later go on elaborating more on each of the finalist.

Describing their relationship with the “Legendary” head coach Nick Saban, and the coaching staff there.

They talked about the culture and saying “My husband is a fan (Nick Saban) , He was a fan when he was at LSU, –Alabama has always been the school in our house, even before Chris played football.”

Later talking about USC, and how it was a fun visit for them because they liked the environment and the vibe in California, saying ” Cali, it was cool.- To see it and see the vibe”

She would further go on to mention the warm welcome USC welcomed their family with on the campus visit, and how appreciative they were as a family for that.

Then Texas A&M came into the conversation and one thing that stood out to me is the proximity in which she mentioned being a great thing. Saying ” Oh man A&M is right up the street right. –That was our first visit, –They were so welcoming and treated us like family”.

It will be interesting to see where the star wide receiver will end up, If I had to put my money on anyone, its a tough decision but I would have to say the Aggies have the best chance at landing one of the nations best, –now that’s not to say I won’t eat my words later, but that’s what I think, what do you guys thing?
