DFW Offensive Players of the Week

DFW – Every week we have been looking through hundreds of games , looking at stats and Nwalthcing film on the top recruit performances of the week. We have the best recruit performances of week 9 of the Texas High School football season.

We are in a time in which the level of play is at an all time high –as we head into playoff season, completion will heat up even more,  which is just around the corner now. We have highlighted some of the Offensive Players of the Week.

So let’s dive right into some of the best recruits performances that were not only some of the best from around the DFW area –but the entire state. 

 

 

Offensive Players of the Week 

 

Devyn Turner (23) WR / DB, Allen

The Northwestern commit in Devyn Turner had 24 carries for 210 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns in the night. Turner has consistently been great this year, producing when his numbers has been called. 

 

Zach Evans (22) RB, Rockwall-Heath

The Minnesota gophers commit and star running back had himself a game and has been all season long. Evans racked up 29 carries for 263 yards rushing and 1 touchdown in his team’s 42-21 victory over Mesquite.

 

Montrail Cushionberry (22) RB, Brewer

This season Montrails rushing ability has beared out in every department. He’s a speedy back that can make house calls on any occasion. On the season he has 1,005 yards rushing, on 96 carries, and 13 touchdowns. Last game he helped Brewerr to a victory with 290 yards rushing on 29 carries and 2 touchdowns. His height at 5’9 has put him under the radar on the recruiting trail.

 

Khalon Davis (23) QB, Denton Ryan

Davis had his most impressive game of the season in leading Ryan to its 55-14 victory over Heritage with 313 yards passing on 16 out of 17 of his passes, nearly a perfect night, and 1 touchdown on the night. Davis is a little undersized at the quarterback position but he still has more time to grow and add more mass to his frame. Terrific athlete that had a consistent season in his sophomore year.

 

Alex Orji (22) QB , Sachse

13 completions out of 23 attempts and throwing for over 215 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Virginia Tech Hokies commit has been unsurprisingly phenomenal this season as many thought he would be, but yet still exciting many with his performances week in and week out on the gridiron. 

 

Dylan Raiola (24) QB , Burleson

One of the best QBs in the 2024 cycle had himself a game last week with 19 completions for 26 attempts and throwing for over 247 yards passing with 3 touchdowns passing and 2 more rushing on the night. This season Raiola has passed over 2200 yards and thrown 20 touchdowns, no wonder offers have been flying in this year for him.

 

Damien Martinez (22) RB, Lewisville

15 carries for 115 yards and 3 touchdowns. Committed to playing for Oregon State next season. 

 

Armani Winfield (22) Lewisville

The star wideout had an impressive night with 7 receptions and 138 yards receiving. A Texas Longhorns commit who looks locked into playing for the Longhorns next season. 

 

Matthew Allen (22) QB, DeSoto

Allen is having himself a season with 1,789 yards passing and 32 touchdowns, —this guy can find the endzone. In DeSoto’s 62-10 victory over Midway, Allen completed 12 of 15 of his passes throwing for over 231 yards and 4 touchdowns.

 

Weston Smith (23) QB, Colleyville Heritage

Smith threw for 267 yards and 15 completions out of 27 attempts and 5 touchdowns on the night. Special quarterback this season who is gaining interest from multiple Division I schools like FSU, Notre Dame, and others. Smith could easily rise to the top at the end of this season as one of the top QBS on the rise in the 2023 cycle. 

 

Riley Wormley (25) RB, WR, Colleyville Heritage

Riley made out the list because of his outstanding performance on special teams with 207 yards in return yards. This season Wormley has proven to be a dangerous return man with just over 400 yards in kick return yards with a total of 18 points scored.

 

Cergio Perez (22) QB, Garland

This might be the best performance of the season with Perez throwing for a total of 8 touchdowns last week and over 419 yards passing and completing 78 percent of his passes. Perez has been one of those that has been consistently dominant this season.

Sawyer Anderson (25) QB Parish Episcopal

The freshmen quarterback has been special this season and has emerged as a name to know in the 2024 cycle. In last week’s victory, Anderson led his team to a 56-10 victory over John Paul II, with 373 yards passing, 16 completions, out of 22 attempts, and 5 touchdowns on the night.

 

Jet Copeland (22) QB, Argyle

10 completions out of 14 attempts and 209 yards passing with 4 touchdowns on the night. Jet is one quarterback who has had himself a breakout senior campaign and surprised many with his terrific performances this season.
