Texas High School football has some eating matchups this weekend and we have some of the top Houston defenders own the rise to watch out for this week. If you like defensive play you won’t be disappointed with the athletes that you find on this list. We have some guys that can light people up and make some big time defensive plays, so lets dive right into which Houston area recruits to know on defense.

Top Defenders

Travel Sampson Hampton (22) – New Caney

Hampton has ben impressive this season thus for for New Caney with 16 total tackles , 6 solo and 10 assist in the last game. This season Travel has nearly 30 tackles on the season, he does that by having great awareness pn the field and breaking on the ball to make a play on it. Wether that is in the passing or running game , Travel has been showing he can get the job done A little undersized at 5’9 ” but I think this DB is one to keep an eye on for this season.

Dejuan Lewis (22)-  Shadow Creek shad

Lewis had 109 yards on kick return in the game playing on special teams. Lewis was flying all over the field and making plays for the Shadow Creek defense. He shows a high motor on the field and can read the quarterbacks eyes well and jump in front of passes to make a play on the ball. Holds 3 division I offers at the moment but I am confident that number will rise this season. He will be taking a visit to college station this weekend to visit the Aggies and see them play.

Bryce Shaink (22) – Tompkins

Shrink can get to the ball carrier in a hurry and make some big time hits. Last season Shaink had 84 tackles , 4 sacks and 2 FF. In the last game Bryce had 9 total tackles , and 1 interception. Watch for him to be a leader on that defense for Tompkins. He can standup and cover the field side line to side line or rush off the edge.

Terrance Green (23) – Cypress Woods

At 6’5 245 Terrance has some great size and a lengthy athletic frame with room to add more mass. He showcased his ability to get to the ball  quarterback in the game with 7 total tackles , 6 of which were solo tackles and 4 sacks. A vey impressive day at the office for Green. One for who is on the rise and will soon be known by many.

Tridell Talley (22) – Bowie

This season Talley has been on fire with over 40 total tackles and 3 INTS already on the season and we are only in week 3. He is a very fast defensive back who is having himself a great star of the season.

Graham Gillespie (22) DB – Bridgeland

Graham is a hybrid defensive back who can cover the back half of the field or come down field and lay the lumber. He was a beast all night on defense for Bridgeland. A total of 14 tackles and 1 int in the win against the woodlands.
Lukia Rawls (22) DL – Klein Cain
A bit undersized as a defensive linemen at 6’0″ but so is Aaron Donald. Now I’m not comparing the two , but this DT can move. He’s got some excellent strength and purist to the football. He looks like strong interior defensive linemen who can cause some havoc in opposing teams backfields. Holds one offer at the moment from the Air Force but he could pick up some more this season. Rawls has 3 sacks so far this season and 22 total tackles. Last year he had some impress numbers as well, check out the video below for more info.

Tyler Cooks (24) Manvel

This young defensive star for Mavel has one offer to Georgia Tech at the moment but leads the team in tackles this year on defense. Cooks has 17 solo and 22 total tackles and 1 sack on the season so far. He should be a good one for years to come. He is playing next to a Miami hurricanes commit in Justin Medlock who is also one of the leaders on defense as well this season for Manvel.
