On Saturday, Texas A&M improved its 2023 recruiting class when 5-star Denton Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. committed to the program. The defensive standout picked Texas A&M over Alabama, Texas, Miami, Oklahoma, and USC.
The final two came down to in in-state battle between the Texas Longhorns who have been on a surge of a recruiting trail lately and the Texas A&M aggies who arent doing bad them selves on the recruiting trail now ranked at the No.1 spot per 247 sports. At the collegiate level, Hill has the size and physical ability to be a high-impact, sideline-to-sideline linebacker. He’s a capable tackler and has shown growth in pass coverage, suggesting playmaking skills that make him an asset.
Hill’s commitment is a big get for the Aggies and strengthens what was already shaping up to be an impressive class. His addition will help Texas A&M compete with the likes of others in the SEC like Alabama, Georgia, and others.
With the Aggies valuing speed at such a high level, that’s certainly possible. Hill has shown enough in high school to believe he could make an immediate impact at the next level, but it’ll take some time before his role as a freshman at Texas A&M is established.
Hill will get his chance to shine for the Aggies eventually, even if it doesn’t happen immediately. Jimbo Fisher and his staff scored a major victory on the recruiting front, landing one of the country’s top-rated linebacker prospects.
