Today we look at a brief glimpse of what has happened in the world of recruiting so far this week. As players are finally allowed back on campus. A lot of good has come out of these visits to campuses as recruits are finally allowed on campus. They can finally get a real feel in person of what a particular college may feel like. When you actually drive up through town and see the surrounding area and get to meet all the coaching staff face to face instead of FaceTiming it makes a huge difference for colleges and recruits.

Coaches finally get to evaluate players in person and players get to see if a respective school would be an envisioned good fit for them.

Here is a look at some of a few recruits that have stirred up the headlines and either performed well enough at camps to earn an offer and even some who have de-committedĀ  and open their recruiting back up after visiting other schools

Jaden Platt (23) | 6’5″ 205 | TE / WR | Eaton HS

Jaden was offered after impressing coaches and staff with his performance at camp. The tall and rangy wide receiver definitely passes the eye test on the field. Coaches and staff after finally getting eyes on Platt decided to go ahead and make their offer. Platt only held 3 other offers before A&M offered. Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Florida State have all offered the up-and-coming receiving tight end. Platt has impressive speed for his size, moves well for a big man that can be very versatile, and play wide receiver in a spread type of offense. I think this is a good scheme fit for A&M and what they are trying to accomplish on the offensive side of the ball.

No other rocked the headlines this past week than Bear Alexander. The 5-star defensive tackle de-committed from the University of Georgia after his visit with the aggies.

Bear Alexander (22) | 6’3″ 325 | DT | Brewer High School

Now whether or not that means A&M has a serious shot at landing one of the best defensive prospects on the defensive line will remain to be seeing. Alexander just had a visit with the longhorns. Seems like it when well so we shall see what happens with his recruitment and if either the longhorns or the Aggies can keep him in the state.

Christopher Brazzell II (22) | 6’4″ 170 | Midland Lee

No other was more underrated in the 2022 class at the wide receiver position than 6’4 Midland Lee Christopher Brazzell. This is an electrifying wideout who can make big plays happen with his terrific speed and route-running ability. I knew the camp season would help Chris bring in more offers or land a commitment. Really good pick-up for FAU right here.

Robert Fitzgerald (22) | 6’0″ 200 | DB | Dallas Jesuit

This DBS recruitment has been on fire this off-season. After earning a 6 A Defensive Most Valuable Player award and putting up some amazing numbers. Virtually all of Robert’s 29 division I offers came this year.Ā  He earned himself an offer from Northwestern to earn to his total. He is one that could upwards of 40 plus offers by the end of his senior season, he’s that good of a defensive player.

Julio Humphrey (22) | 6’1″ 185 | DB | Clear Lake

Has been all over the place this summer. He’s got a busy schedule and for good reason. He’s one of the most highly rated DBS out of the state. This is absolutely a lockdown corner that is currently committed to the Florida Gators. After visiting the Crimson tide I don’t think it will be enough to get him to de-committed from the Gators. He seems to be very high on them and very loyal and just made his visit to Gainsville to visit his future home.

Anthony Evans (23) | 6’0″Ā  | WRĀ  | Judson

Anthony is one of the top rising receivers in the 2023 class and quickly making his way into a lot of recruiting boards. Evans is a very fast receiver who is very quick out of his breaks and shows the ability to cut up the turf and stop on a dime. A lot of big-time colleges are finally getting eyes on him and are impressed with his big frame, speed, route-running ability, and soft hands. One who will have 20-30 offers in the future without a doubt. Earned an offer after a good camp at TCU.

Mabrey Mettauer (24) | 6’4″ 215 |Ā  QBĀ  | The Woodlands

We will end today’s article here with one of the best quarterbacks in the class of 2024 and not just in the state but the nation. Mabrey’s recruitment has been heating up ever since the beginning of the year. He is one of the most talented quarterbacks in his class because of being so amazingly talented for his age. He’s got the prototypical size coaches like to see at the college level and even at the pros already. He has tremendous poise on the field and shows flashes of velocity and accuracy on all of his throws. LSU is the most recent to offer and I am sure when it’s all said and done. Mabrey will have 40 plus offers and be one of the top recruits in the nation. Super a humble kid as well and handles business in the classroom.
