Today we take a look at some of the top recruits who have visited Baylor last week and we do a little evaluation on each player and what Baylor could possibly get by signing one of these players.

The first player up is a big defensive line and one of the top senior prospects on that defensive line still uncommitted out of Louisiana. Neville 3-star defensive tackle Enyce Sledge. Sledge is a large individual and boy can he move. I’ve seen this young man in person at a showcase where athletes were tested in the 40-yard dash and other football-related drills like and Sledge impressed many with his size and speed being about 6’4″ and easily over 300 lbs. This is a big fellow who can plug up that defensive line and easily make his way into the backfield. His commitment is coming soon and experts think the Bears have a strong chance of signing him.

2023 Hebron Athlete Carson Dean plays in the battle-tested division of Texas 6A football which is one of the toughest nationally to compete in, so he is facing elite talent week in and week out. Dean is 6’4″ 226 lbs, an all-district linebacker and led his team in tackles as a sophomore. This prospect would be a huge steal for the Bears as it is beyond my disbelief that this linebacker doesn’t have any stars by his name. He’s tall, long frame and long arms he’s got some great speed and can cover sideline to sideline. Not to mention he can cause havoc in the backfield for opposing offenses. He looks like a true FBS prospect who will have a high ceiling in college and possibly possess NFL draft potential in the future. I think he continues to add mass to his frame and be a dominate linebacker and one who could add some stars and more offers by the time he makes his final decision.

One player who raised his stock significantly this past season and offseason during some of this 7-on-7 play is 2023 San Antonio Brennan’s defensive back Tyler Turner.  Last season Turner was one of the leaders on defense and had 109 tackles, 5 tackles for losses, 5 interceptions, and 2 PBU’s. He was very impressive, to say the least, I actually think he can play both sides of the ball should he can be dangerous at the receiver also. On defense, Turner was a lockdown and showed he could trail and keep quiet some of the best of receivers. Baylor just made their offer after seeing him in person at one of their camps.

Baylor made another offer in 2023 Mineola Linebacker Dawson Pendergrass. In 2020 he was named first-team all-district selection at both running back and defensive back as a sophomore. 2019 was named 3A Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. Dawson has some elite speed and quickness and can take the ball into the end zone anytime he touches the ball. He’s got a big athletic frame for a ball carrier and I think I liked him best at running back because he showed some big-time play-making ability at that position.

One of the top edge rusher prospects in his class is 2023 Ridge Point DK Kalu. The 3-star defensive linemen hold 6 division I offer already to schools like Baylor, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Rice, and SMU. This player has some good pedigree to him, his father was former Rice and NFL defensive end N.D Kalu. He is dangerous off the edge and can definitely get after the quarterback and or ball carrier in the backfield almost at will. This would be a strong pick-up for that defensive line if Baylor can sign this prospect to their roster.
