Every week we spotlight some of the top talented recruits in Texas High School football. Today we show you a player to know from the Houston area on the defensive side of the football in Tomball Memorials senior linebacker prospect, Blake Holt.
Evaluation & Analysis
Blake Holt (24′) | 6-1, 200 | LB | Tomball Memorial
Blake has the next-level size and skills that you would want out of a linebacker at 6-foot-1 featuring an athletically built frame with long arms. Blake does an excellent job of filling his gap and letting plays develop in his favor. He shows the speed to cover and shut down plays sideline to sideline, and also displays explosiveness into the backfield or his gaps. A recruit the size of an inside or outside linebacker, Blake is versatile and can be used to stop the run or pass on defense coming off the edge or in the middle of the defenses at inside linebacker. Blake does a great job of taking on blockers and shedding them to make plays on the football. A consistently great form tackler who can shut down run plays or hurry the quarterback and make it look routine. We believe Blake has ample room for adding ample muscle mass to his already athletic frame and increasing his speed, plus agility and being even more of a dominating force on the football field. We easily see this happening for Blake this season as one of Tomball Memorials’ leaders on defense. Blake is without a doubt an FBS-caliber prospect who could easily be highly ranked and pass up some in his class on our rankings very soon.
