The battle between USC’s new head coach Lincon Riley and Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian for Shelby was a tough race and we are sure a tough decision. Both are nationally ranked in the top 20 for recruiting per 247 sports with the longhorns edging the trojans in the 2023 class rankings with Texas holding the 5th spot and USC at the 12th spot respectively.
Shelby has been able to put together an impressive career thus far in his two years as a starter on defense with 131 total tackles and 15 total sacks, and 8 fumbles recovered. This recruit is a playmaker in that defense and can fly off the edge with explosiveness and an elite ability to make his way to the quarterback often beating blockers because of his explosiveness off the edge, athleticism, and size that are virtually next-level ready.
