DFW – We are more than half way through the regular season with just a couple of more weeks left of the regular season. It seems like the season has flown by because of the amount of excitement some great games have brought us this season. Here are some of the top games and recruits to watch for in this weeks big game matchups.
Top Games to Watch
Garland (6-0) vs Sachse (4-2)
South Oak Cliff (5-1) vs Seagoville (5-2)
Dallas Jesuit (5-1) vs Nimitz (4-2)
Big Game of Week
Garland (6-0) vs Sachse (4-2)
Garland walking into this matchup as one of the very few undefeated teams left in Texas High School football. No thanks to their high powered offense. The Owl’s have play makers at every single position offensively and on defense. Senior wide-receiver and SMU commit Jordan Hudson, is one of the top receivers in the state in and nation, paired along with Quarterback Cergio Perez, the two have seemingly been unstoppable this season. Perez is one of the most under-the-radar senior quarterback’s in the state with over 2,000 yards passing, 28 passing touchdowns, and only 4 interceptions this season.
The Owls rushing attack for has looked strong with a few running-back’s taking the spotlight, like in senior running-back Jayshon Powers, who is a multi-sport athlete(basketball & football),has nearly 2,000 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns in three years as a starter, according to MaxPreps stats . His counter part isn’t bad either, the two have made for a dual-threat rushing attack out of the backfield with junior running back Keyunte King sharing the backfield as well this season for the Owl’s. This season King has 434 yards rushing, on 54 carries, and 4 touchdowns .
Garland’s defense will have their work cut out for them as they will face one of the top senior quarterbacks in the state, in Virginia Tech Hokie’s commit senior Alex Orji. Talk about a true dual-threat quarterback, –no other name will come to mind faster than Orji’s. He is one who can hurt defense with his legs and arm, if defenses rush to many or don’t rush at all, he can make you pay. It will be interesting to see if the Garland Owls can contain him in this one.
Note—Garland on a average this season is scoring at least 50 points per game on average and as for Sachse 47 points per game aas per maxpreps stats. Ladies and gentlemen, we may have a shootout in this one as both defense are equally giving up as much points on defense as they score on offense this season(45-47 points per game).
