In an exclusive interview with TDRecruits, Turner has this to say about his decision behind the de-commitment from Baylor, “The decision had nothing to do with anything Baylor did or didn’t do, it was just a matter of me wanting to leave no stone unturned and ensure I’m making the best decision for my future“.
With his future in mind, Turner has been one of the highest stock-rising defenders in his class in the state of Texas and arguably the nation. Offers for Turner did not start coming overnight. It wasn’t in till last offseason around this time last year, is when you started to hear Turner’s name in circulation.
Making a name from himself last 7-on-7 season displaying his size, frame, and technique relative to his position catching the eyes of the media and many others.
Turner’s first division I offer was from Baylor after a visit to the campus last year around summertime in June. He would later go on to receive four division I offers after that from UTSA, Rice, Texas Tech, and SMU before committing to Baylor in January at the start of the year.
Since then, offers from TCU, Texas, Houston, Utah, Grambling and two SEC offers from Arkansas and Ole Miss, not to mention an Oklahoma Sooners offer at the start of this month have come.
We suspect Tyler could be waiting for one big-time offer to land, could be a team from the SEC, give you a little hint, their colors are Crimson and white. Talking about Alabama; it’s known from social media where Tyler is seen working out with the Alabama checkered flag and big A(Alabama)logo right in the middle of it, maybe used as some sort of motivation or just simply as a decoration.
When asked how Tyler felt about Alabama, their program, and how he would feel if he was to ever receive an offer from them, this is what he had to say, “I grew up a Bama fan so getting to be recruited by them would be an honor and a dream come true. I got the chance to attend one of their summer camps and it was great. Got a feel of what they ask for from a football player and got a little taste of what the standard is over there which is nothing short of greatness.”.
Either way, since the rise of stardom Tylers recruiting stock, continues to rise and there is no telling to end in sight to the number of offers he could pick up. Soon after the de-commitment, Ole Miss was the first to submit their offer to now one of the top defensive backs in the 2023 class still available.
“OU was great, beautiful campus, great people, and they can develop people with the best of em. OU is definitely a school that has made an impact on my recruiting.” Tyler said about Oklahoma who also looks to be a contender Tyler just came off a visit and received an offer from the new coaching regime at OU in coach Venables and company.

Tyler currently holds 13 Division I offers but that number could significantly change once word gets out one of the top-ranked 2023 defensive backs is back on the recruiting trail; many coaches will be fighting for a chance to get this recruit on campus.
