Rouse was able to show up and show out offensively often and early. Passing for over 300 yards on offense and rushing for just over a 100 yards. The final outcome 44-7 Rouse over Burnet
Offensive Player of the Game
Junior Quarterback Mason Shorb was our player of the game as he had a very impressive first week completing 74% of his passes (23 compl. out of 31) and throwing for 393 yards with 5 touchdown.
Shorb showed off his impressive arm strength on out routes to receivers towards the sideline and down the middle of the feild hitting receivers in stride.
I really like this quarterback and has a chance to see him throw in the off-season at 7v7 tournaments. He’s got some great velocity/touch on passes and has pin points accuracy.
One of Shorbs favorite targets during the game was wide receiver Jalen Beccerra who had a monster night receiving. Jalen had 5 receptions for 82 yards, 1 touchdown.
Another would be Wide receivers Troy Oliver who also had a night worth 7 receptions, for 87 yards receiving and 1 touchdown.Oliver has break away speed and soft hands. He shows he can turn up field and make yards after the catch.
Defensive Player of the Game
Christian Lyons had a solid night with 4 solo tackles, 6 asst and 10 total tackles. While defendsive end Ben Armstrong was able to make his name known as well. Armstrong has a lean athletic build , another player I’ve been able to see in person and was impressed with his athleticism.
Armstrong was flying all over the field and was able to help his team secure victory with 3 solo tackles, 6 asst., and 10 total tackles plus 2 TFLs and 1 sack.
Impressive start for Rouse as they look to go 2-0 next week when they face Anderson.
