HS Pre-season Preview: 2025 Top Linebacker’s & Edge’s

By:

Here are some of the top 2025 linebacker and edge recruits to know this season. These recruits are some of the best to know in Texas High School football and nationally. So without further ado, here are some of the best linebacker and edge recruits to know this season.

Top 5

Parker Meese (25) | 6-2 / 215 | LB | Parish Episcopal School of Dallas

One could easily say that Parker Meese is the, if not one the top linebacker recruits in the 2025 class in the entire nation. He has an impressive 19 total scholarship offers from some of the top programs around the country like Oregon, Penn State, and North Carolina to add to his total scholarship offer number. Parker has an amazing frame that features a lengthy athletic-looking build, with long arms, and is above average height and size for a middle linebacker. With Parker’s ability to read plays and with his athleticism he is able to sniff out plays, cover side line to side line, and stop them from ever happing. Parker is also smooth in his back pedal as good as a defensive back and can cover well against the pass trailing receivers and making a play on the ball. Look for Parker to be a dominating force on the field this season for Parish Episcopal and for years to come.

Kelvion Riggs (25) | 6-1/210 | LB  | South Oak Cliff

Kelvion is a lean and athletic-looking linebacker with a stout build. Riggs brings the wood and is not afraid to come downhill and light defenders up with a big-time hit. Riggs turned a lot of heads last season with his terrific play stopping the run and making plays for TFLs or racking up sacks. Kelvion can do it all, one good reason he has been able to pick up 10 scholarship offers thus from some of the nation’s top programs like Miami, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M to name a few. Riggs will be a highly rated player with plenty of stars and offers by the end of his high school career.

Ty’Raun Bell (25) | 5-10/190 | LB | Marlin

Bell could very easily be next up for Martin. He’s a young linebacker that is already turning heads and garnishing the interest from many last seasons as a freshman compiling over 200 tackles and leading that defense on many stops. Bell is a physical linebacker who is fast enough and athletic enough to make the big plays look routine. Shows good lateral speed and patience letting plays develop, then sniffing them out and making a stop. Bell is good at breaking in front of passes or making TFLs. Look for Bell to be special for Martin for years to come and be a top recruit everyone knows about across the country. After all, Marlin has been able to put together an impressive linebacker crew along with senior Derion Gullette, the pair along with Bell make for a scary defense to watch this season.

Chad Woodfork (25) | 6-4 / 215 Edge / LB Summer Creek

Chad is a beast off the edge and can play standing up or with his hand on the ground. With his explosiveness at the snap of the ball, Woodfork is able to beat many with his sheer speed off the edge and often goes untouched on the way to the quarterback. Chad could easily be one of the top edge rushers in his class and also be one who could fit multiple different scheme packages on defense at the next level. Holds 3 scholarship offers at the moment from Marshal, Texas Tech, and UTSA. Chad will be highly rated with the ability to play anywhere in the country at the end of his career.

Connor Vasek (25) | 6-4 / 205 Edge / LB | Westlake

Like older nationally ranked 4-star recruit in his brother Colton Vasek who has 38 total division I offers; Connor could be just as good if not better than his older brother, but we won’t get into comparison, each is really good and Connor has a chance to be in the national spotlight as one of the top recruits in his class as well. Unodubtley so, with his size and skills off the edge Connor will be a dominating edge rusher who will cause havoc for offensives he faces. With his leverage, Connor is able to beat blockers using his strength and athleticism. Often beats blockers with his quick first step and or by bench pressing and shedding away blockers. Connor can make his way quickly into the backfield and make a sack or TFL. Look for him to be a dominating force on that Westlake defense for years to come.
