The defensive talent in the DFW area is loaded. We crunched numbers , attended games and watched film on some of the best defensive performances from last week. Here are your top defensive recruits that earned Player of the Week in the fourth week of regular season play of Texas High School football.
Gerald Lacy (23)S, FS Nolan Catholic
Lacy is a defensive back to know this season who has emerged as a serious defensive back recruit. In the last game verses Midland Christian Lacy was able to put on a show coming up with some big time interceptions in the game. Lacy is flying under the radar as of right now but I don’t think that will be for long once coaches discover his talent. The film always speaks for itself. FBS caliber athlete that is receiving a lot of attention right now.
Kaleb James (23) DE, Nolan Catholic
The entire Nolan Catholic defense could not be contained in the last game and it started in the trenches with James. Off the edge James is a matchup nightmare for most. At 6’4 two hundred and fifty pounds his size, speed and agility paired with his ability to bend the edge is the reason why is one of the top defensive line recruits in the state. He holds 23 division I offers and interest from colleges in the Big 12, SEC and Pac 12 to name a few. That number will undoubtedly double by the end of his senior year and James could be a early contributor at the next level.
Curlee Thomas (22)DE, Nolan Catholic
Thomas is a commit to the Cal Golden Bears and he choose them over 42 other division I schools. This senior is lethal off the edge and he has been showcasing his ability to get to the quarterback and the ball carrier in the backfield seemingly at will this season. Last week in the game Thomas was able to make some big time plays in the backfield and apply pressure to the QB all game long. Look for this edge defender to be a trophy winner at the next level and one that could possibly play on Sundays.
Benicio Porras (22) MLB, Southlake Carroll
Porras was flying all over the field making plays sideline to sideline for Southlake Carroll last week making him a Player of the Week for us. The entire highlight tape defensively for the dragons consisted of Porras making play after play. I like this middle linebackers size at 6’1 two hundred and fifteen pounds. Porras has a lengthy lean build and shows some great awareness and speed to fly alll over the field and make plays.

Devyn Bobby (22)DB, DeSoto
Out of the defensive backfield in the DFW area no one has played better than Bobby this season. In the last game Bobby flexed his ability to not only cover against the pass put also shutdown ball carriers coming his way. bobby has average height but has a lengthy frame and long arms which he uses to break up passes. He is smooth in his back pedal and can play floated off of receivers and or in press coverage. Committed to the Baylor bears , Bobby has been special thus far for DeSoto U and in the last game Bobby had 9 tackles ,2 TFLs , and 1 INT.
