Xavier held 33 total division I offers but he had narrowed down that list to his top five schools which included: LSU, Georgia, USC, Oregon and the Florida Gators. Which obviously he decided to take his talents to the orange and blue to play for the Gators.
Filsaime is now the second addition from the state of Texas. The other being Willis, 2024 quarterback in DJ Lagway. Florida’s 2024 class now sits at seven verbal commitments after adding Filsaime to the group. Florida’s class now currently ranks No. 7 according to 247Sports recruiting rankings.
Evaluation & Scouting Report
Filsaime is a long and lean defensive back that pairs his explosiveness with some devastating hitting power.
Filsaime is a dual-sport athlete who possesses elite speed for someone of his stature at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. He can come flying downhill in a hurry and lay the lumber on ball carriers for tackles for losses. He also posseses that closing on pass catchers when the ball’s in the air that coaches like a defender who can go up and attack the football and or make a play on the ball.
Filsaime, is a sure tackler and does an excellent job form tackling ball carriers down to the ground. In coverage, Filsaime can run with receivers stride for stride down the field due to his elite speed and ability to read plays very well. Xavier does a really good job of batting quarterbacks to throw his way because he reads their eyes so well and breaks on the in front of the ball, and is able to break up the pass or come up with the interception.
Xavier’s range and knack for being a playmaker will set him apart at the next level and he will be a defender that the Gators can rely on to cover the back half of the field.
