Owen is a hard-hitting, run-stopping safety with average to below-average size for the next level. He has solid speed and agility, showing good closing speed and the ability to lay big hits on ball carriers while maintaining his gaps. He isn’t afraid of contact and trails receivers well, though his backpedal and footwork need improvement. Enhancing his ball skills, reading quarterbacks, and increasing interceptions and pass breakups should be offseason priorities. With technical growth in pass coverage, Owen has the potential to play at the college level, especially with the strong coaching and competition he faces at one of Texas’ top high school programs.
