The decision between the Sooners and the aggies would come down to the wire with some experts split down the middle on whether the nation’s number one defensive tackle recruit in the class of 2023 would take his talents to Norman Oklahoma or stay in state and call College Station the next place he would call home. The decision? Hicks choose the Texas A&M Aggies to play in front of the 12th man at Kyle Field.

Hicks could have gone to go and play at any school in the entire country. The nation’s best programs wanted Hicks to play for them including schools like Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Miami, and of course the Oklahoma Sooners and Aggies.
Ultimately it was the long-lasting relationship with head coach Jimbo Fisher and staff that like coach Elijah Robinson for the Aggies would end up winning the battle for one of the interior defensive linemen in the country. Overcoming over many schools the Aggies add to the 18th ranked 2023 recruiting class ranked per 247sports.com .
Hicks is the second five-star prospect the Aggies have been able to gain a commitment from. The other is Denton Ryan Anthony Hill, the nation’s top-rated and ranked 2023 linebacker.
The Aggies 2023 Recruiting Class
The Aggies 2023 defensive recruiting class is a strong and impressive one with now the likes of Hicks and other prospects like Hill, and Dalton Brooks, from Shiner a four-star athlete who will most likely play in the secondary. and others like another defensive line recruit that Hicks can predict to play next too in 6-foot-3, 380 lbs Atascocita defensive tackle Samu Taumanupepe who is another beast of a defender that combined with Hicks will be one scary pair to watch at the next level for the Aggies.
EVAL: On the defensive line, David is a monster. He shoots out of his stance with vicious hand moves, and he can race by defenders on his way to the quarterback. I believe he has the potential to be an exceptional interior defensive lineman who wreaks havoc at the next level.
