New head coach Brent Venables lost a valuable 4-star recruit last night in 2023 wide receiver Ashton Cozart who flipped from the Sooners to now being committed to the Oregon Ducks.
Cozart took to Twitter last night to make the announcement saying “This is home! My recruitment is closed and I will not be taking interviews or responding to …DMs..that being said, SCO DUCKS”.

The decision comes as a shock to most as no one probably ever saw this coming until a few days ago. Oregon was a part of Cozart’s first ten offers. Which is special judging on his total of 41 division I scholarship offers, Cozart could go and play at any school in the country but has chosen to take his talent to Eugene Oregon instead of Norman, Oklahoma.
The Marcus high school star has had a journey through his recruitment process. One that has seen a couple of twists and turns.
Originally committed to Oklahoma in February of 2021, Ashton seemed like he was bought into the new regime of new Sooners head coach Brent Venables even after the departure of former head coach Lincoln Riley to USC.
