Regional Title Big Game Recap: Duncanville defeats DeSoto

By:

FRISCO – The 6A D1 Region II title game showcased a rematch of two heavyweights, as Duncanville and DeSoto would face off for the second time this year. The result, no different from the last. Duncanville would once again come out on top, this time riding a three-touchdown night from Malachi Medlock resulting in a 38-20 victory over the Eagles.

Duncanville would draw first blood on the heels of a Jordan Crook rushing touchdown; however, DeSoto quickly answered with a 66-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Allen to Johntay Cook II. The first half was tightly contested, as the score read 17-7 Duncanville heading into the half.

The second half was a much different story, as Duncanville blew the game open scoring 21 points in the third quarter. Toledo commit, Malachi Medlock was sensational throughout the night, gashing the Eagles defense with big runs. Medlock finished with 252 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The three-star recruit also made his presence felt in the passing game, adding two touchdowns and 64 yards through the air. On the flip side, DeSoto’s offense struggled to get things going in the second half, made worse by a strip sack fumble returned for a touchdown which all but sealed the game for the Eagles.

Duncanville will take on Southlake Carroll this weekend for a rematch of last years semifinal.
