The Area district round of playoffs kicks off this week with some tough and exciting competition. We will be highlighting a few games and players for you to keep your eyes on as games kick off under the bright lights.
Today we cover the matchup between Lindale and El Campo. Both walk into this game with some solid offenses that have to lead them up to this point. Check out the game preview and who the top recruits are for both.
Lindale (7-4) vs El Campo (10-1)
Lindale
Lindale comes into the game in 2nd place for district and is led by senior Quarterback Sam Peterson, a Texas State Baseball commit, who is coming of a great first-round performance. This quarterback can sling the football, he shows some great timing and touch on all of his throws to receivers, and can take off with the football himself and shows flashes of impressive athleticism.
One of Peterson’s favorite targets in the season is WR/TE, Evan Alford who can get make an impact in any game. Shows the ability to get over the top of corners and always work towards the ball.
The big boys up from upfront for Lindale look like a cohesive unit that can open up holes and buy time for their quarterback. Overall strong offensive unit, that will put the El Campo defense to the test.
El Campo

El Campo has a two-headed monster in their backfield with one of the nation’s best running backs, junior Rueben Owens, and senior Johntre Davis.
The offense of El Campo can wear you down, Davis and Owens combined together this season have rushed for just over 3,500 yards on the ground this season and 53 touchdowns. ( credit Maxpreps stats) Phenomenal job by not only these two players but that offensive line as well.
Owens has put on a clinic this season and will be a tough assignment to stop for that Lindale defense. It will be interesting to see the game plan has prepared to stop the ground and pound game of El Campo, but even if they know what’s coming, who’s to say they can stop it.
