HOUSTON – The end of the season is near and the level of play is at a all time high at this point in the season. Week number 9 of the Texas High School football regular season did not disappoint. Each week we watch all of the games, look over all of the stats, and film and come up with the top performers from not only Houston, but all over Texas so you don’t have too. We present to you the recruits who had standout preformances and are our Offensive Players of the Week.
Santana Scott(23) RB, Morton Ranch
Scott has been having himself one heck of a season and last week was no different with 241 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns on the night on just 26 carries. His height is his main nemisis in the recruiting world being below the average height of 5’10, despite this fact, Scott has continued to have success running the football and impressing many.
Lane Stockton (24) QB, Tomball Memorial
Stockton had 3 touchdowns last week and impressive performance completing nearly 60 percent of his passes and lead his team in a well fought victory. At 6’1and with a strong arm, this sophomore quarterback has emerged as one of the top young quarterback prospects to know this year. Stockton throws a nice deep ball and can hit recievers in stride, 50 yards plus with ease.
Kendrick Bradley (22) RB, Klein Forest
Beadley has been impressive this season with 1,568 yards on the griund and 13 total rishing touchdowns. Last week he had an amazing 267 yards on the ground on 29 carries. Defentily a workhorse back that can do it all.
Cj Dumas (22) QB , Paetow
Dumas was automatic on the night and lead his team to a statement victory against Hightower that they weere a team tk recon with. Dumas finished the night nearly perfect with a 76 completion rating and 228 yards through the air with 4 touchdowns. Great performance for a recruit who has been underrated for a while. Committed to Prairie View A&M.
Damyrion Phillips (23) RB, Paetow
Although short in stature, Philips can get the job done. He finds the open holes he’s given and explores them with is speed, agility and quickness. Last week he helped his team to victory with 153 yards rushing on 17 carries and 3 touchdowns, making for one of the most notable rushing performances on the night,
Kole Wilson (22) WR, Paetow
Sheesh, Wilson can fly. One catch and run Wilson showed off his jets and gassed everyone for a house call for six. I like the way this reciever was a threat in the game and was able to come up with 2 reception and 85 yards reaching and 1 touchdown on the night.
Jett Huff (22) QB, College Station
Huff has been a very impressive QB all season long, last week was no different either throwing for 265 yards passing with 90 percent passer rating completing 19 of 21 of his passes and throwing for 3 touchdowns on the night.
Marquise Collins (23) RB, College Station
Collins was second in rushing bur lead the team in touchdowns on the night with 3 for college station with 9 carries and 111 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. The junior running back has had a break out season rushing for over 1,234 yards and 17 touchdowns this year. He should be a special back to watch for a long time.
Nathaniel Palmer (24) RB, College Station
College Station has a two headed monster out of the backfield with Palmer and Collins leading the way on the ground. Palmer was one of my leading rushers I had picked to do well this season and he has not disappointed. In the last game he lead the team in rushing yards with 1 touchdown and 123 yards on just 4 carries. Explosive back who is an FBS caliber recruit that will be highly ranked.
Traylen Suel (22) WR, College Station
Suel had 9 receptions for 150 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. He is without a doubt a division I prospect who has the speed and route running ability to make the big plays happen and end up in the end-zone constantly.
Chase Jenkins (23) QB, Alief Taylor
Jenkins combined for 255 yards of offense and 2 touchdowns in the game agissnt Strake Jesuit. He throw for over 145 yard passing and 110 yards rushing on the night on 18 carries. Jenkins has been proving why he is a dual 0threat QB to know this season. Only has 1 division I offer at the moment, his height at 5’11 hasn’t helped him in his recruitment being below average but a terrific athlete nonetheless.
Colin Johnson (23) QB, Dawson
11 completions for 16 attempts and 231 yards passing and 2 touchdowns .
Gavin Rutherford (23) QB , Cinco Ranch
19 completion sfor 27 attemots and 324 yards passing with 2 touchsdowns and 1 interception, plus 7 carries for 48 yards and 1 touchdown, he has 5 rushing touchdowns on the season.
Carson Roper (22) QB , Klein Cain
10 completions out of 15 attempts with 166 yards passing and had 18 carries go for 90 yards rushing and a total of 3 touchdown ( 2 rushing and 1 passing). Carson has been one of my favorite breakout dual-threat quarterbacks and players of the season. This guy can sling it and has the athleticism to take the ball in himself. He has proved himself of being a division I , FBS caliber athlete that could produce at the next level.
Drew Stokes (22) RB, Klien Cain
Strokers has been one of the seniors running backs that have really impressed me this year with his run-in gabilty. He’s lead the team in rushing on the night last week with 117 yards and 1 touchdown on just 8 carries.
Mabrey Mettauer (24) QB, The Woodlands
Mettauer had one of the best quarterback performances of last week with 16 completions for 24 attempts and throwing for nearly 400 yards on the night (399) and 6 touchdowns. (4 passing and 2 rushing) . — Not a bad night for one of the countries best in the 2024 cycle.
Jacob Smith (23) QB, Grand Oaks
17 completions for 26 attempts and 336 yards with 3 touchdowns on the night. Smith made for a well a fought game with his performances against the Woodlands, and although id would be enough to secure a victory, it still equated to a terrific performance on the night for the junior QB.
Ben Ferguson (22) WR, The Woodlands
6 completions for 190 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns . Ben can get open at will and make those circus catches.He is quick off the LOS and dangerous in his routes, showing why he was one of Quarterback Mabrey’s Mettaur’s favorite targets on the night
Kedrick Reescano (23) RB, New Caney
Another terrific performance for the New Caney running back who has been arguably one of the best rushers in the state this season. Last week was no different with 21 carries for 184 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. This tweet says it all about the kind of season Reescano has been having.
Cyrin Myles (23) QB, Crosby
10 completions for 15 attempts and 232 yards passing with 4 touchdowns plus also rushed for an amazing 148 yards on 11 carries and 3 additional touchdowns bringing his total to 7 touchdowns on the night. Another dominate performance for Myles who has been one of the top junior QB prospects on the rise this season because of his performances.
Braden Womack (23) WR, Crosby
6 receptions for 152 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns . Womack looks to be one of the prospects on the rise in the 2023 cycle.
Dillon Bell (22) WR, Kinkaid
On just 4 receptions Bell had 96 yards reaching and 2 touchdowns on the night . Committed to playing for the Georgia Bulldogs next season.
Jah’mar Sanders (22) QB / ATH, Port Arthur Memorial
Sanders was slinging the rock for Port Arthur Memorial and making big plays all game long. A little underrated because of his height at 5’9 bu tI think this is an athlete to know who has held his own the season.
Kaleb Comolafe (23) RB / DB, Tompkins
Comolafe is a prospect to know. He’s got great see and athletic ability, and last week he showed it running the football for Tompkins. He had 114 yards rushing on 10 carries and 2 touchdowns. Many division I programs are interested in this prospect.
