DFW Quarterbacks of the Week

By:

This season has been a joy to watch and a lot of special football matchups have happened early on to kick off the year. Every week we analysis stats, watch film and attend football games in the area to find out which quarterback recruits are shining week-in and week-out. Here are some of the quarterback prospects on top of the charts and that had some terrific performances in the last week of Texas High School football.

Top Quarterbacks

QB Gabriel Barrientos (23) Lone Star

Gabriel has done a terrific job stepping in for Star QB Garrett Rangel this season. This quarterback has some great footwork , very smooth in the pocket and throws well on the run.He looks like he’s received some terrific coaching from the Lone Star Friso offensive staff or personal trainer. Wether that’s throws down the middle of the field or in the end-zone, this QB shows he can put some really good velocity on  all throws. This is a recruit to know and watch for this season.

Hudl game film

QB Brennan Storer (23) Highland Park

Storer is a phenomenal quarterback and checks all the boxes relative to his position. Storer shows a live-arm and flashes encouraging velocity over the middle of the field and in the short-to-intermediate passing game. Recruitment is taking off this year, and he is definitely one to know. Holds 4 division I offers at the moment, I suspect that number to rise significantly this season.

QB Alexander Franklin (24)  Lovejoy

Franklin might be the next 2024 quarterback that everyone is talking about this season. This is a special dual-threat quarterback who’s athleticism bears out in both departments of throwing the football and running. Techiqunie and mechanics wise — Franklin looks like he is receiving professional training, that’s how fine tuned his skills look to be. The way he’s able to look off receivers , throw a nice little pump fake with his shoulders and then launch the ball into the end-zone for six, is second to none. I think Franklin ends-up raising himself up the recruiting-rankings this season so long as he continues to play well.

QB Alex Orji (22) Sachse

This Virginia Tech Hokies commit has been racking up yards and touchdowns this season in bunches.Alex pair’s that athleticism with one of the stronger arms in the 2022 cycle. He’s a true dual-threat with the necessary tools as a passer and a runner with elite speed.Defense’s don’t send the house after this guy– he’ll make you pay. Alex is just as comfortable throwing on the move as he is in the pocket and does not need to set his feet to deliver a strike 50 yards down the football field. It will be special to watch him play at the next level and possibly beyond.

QB Josh Hoover (22) Rockwall Heath

Hoover is surgical with the football on the field. I love this quarterbacks ability to just take one step back and launch a bomb down field or a strike over the middle of the field. His timing and mechanics are next level and we can’t wait to see what he does this season and beyond. Hoover committed to Indiana will undoubtedly be special at the next level and could be a high producer earlier on in his career.

QB Matthew Allen (22) DeSoto

Matthew Allen has been very impressive since the start of the season and contuses to shine. This quarterback is battle-tested against tough competition, and proves he can hold his own week-in and week-out.In addition to his dual threat nature, Allen also shows some great timing with receivers and has the ability to put-up six points with his arm anytime he drops back to pass. I really like this QB and I think his recruiting will take off this year for his senior campaign.

QB Cergio Perez (22) Garland

Perez is a great quarterback who I believe is under rated at the moment, although already committed to South Dakota. Perez is turning a lot of heads this season. This Garland QB has a arsenal of weapons and shows some great timing to hit star receivers downfield and in stride with ease. I like his ability to find the open receivers and make it look routine. The offensive star power for Garland on offense is off the charts  and Cergio spread the wealth beautifully. Look for that Garland offense to keep running up score boards this season with Cergio leading the way.

QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi (22) Aledo

We cannot say enough great things about this QB. Week-in and week-out putting out strong performances helping is team to victories and marching the ball on opposing defenses with ease. This Aledo offense is proving to be a dangerous one this season and is looking strong on both sides of the ball, it will be interesting to see how far they can go.
