Texas high school football regular season has been off to a great start this far. We have the top receivers of week 2 from the Houston area for you today. Here are some of the stars that had great performances for their respective teams last week and are worthy recruits for you to keep your eyes on this season.
Top WRs of Week 2
Jaquaize Pettaway (23), WR, Langham Creek
The four-star receiver has been going off this season putting up some great numbers. 8 catches for 190 yards and 2 TDs. Pettaway looked like a man among boys out their on the field and has the elite speed and open field moves to prove it. Very well built and paired with his skills make him a matchup problem for most. Should be one special player to watch this season. Holds 17 division I offers to schools likes Auburn, Baylor, Houston and LSU to name a few.
2021 stats: 13 receptions for 346 yards and 3 TDS.
Traylen Suel (22), WR, College Station
Suel is a bit undersized was. a receiver but make no mistake his ability more than makes up for his lack of height. Traylen shows he can pick up those tough yards after the catch and knows what to do with the football in his hands. Looks good making moves in the open field and its hard for most defenses to try to keep up with this receiver.
Leland Smith (22), TE/WR, Strake Jesuit
Smith has been flying under the radar for to long and I have a good feeling 2021 will be his break out year. Looks like a strong receiving tight end who can makes some plays. Leland has quick feet at the line of scrimmage and can climb the ladder and win those contested passes. Smith could pass as strong outside receiver. I think route running could improve with a different variety of routes for him and he will more than likely counties to add mass to his 6’4″ frame. No offers yet.
Cadyn Bradley (22), WR, Spring
Bradley has been one of star quarterbacks Bishop Davenports favorite targets. Bradley was able to account for nearly one hindered yards (97) and two touchdowns on the night. His ability to be quick of the line of scrimmage and show some good moves in his routes to create separation from him self between defenders. He has some adequate speed and can stop on a dime. A receiver too keep your eye on this season who could have a big impact for spring the rest of the season.
Caleb Douglas (22), WR, Hightower
Not sure of the stats for Douglas but he always looks dangerous with the football in his hands. This almost 6’4 receiver has a large catch radius and can flash impressive speed and agility in his routes. I like his route running ability and he is one elite receiver still uncommitted n the senior class. This comes after a de-commitment from the Baylor Bears. It will be interesting and exciting to see how his recruitment plays out for him the rest of this season.
Jhalyn Bailey (22), WR, North Shore
Bailey has been special for North Shore so far this season. Holds two offers so far from the Colorado Buffaloes and New Mexico Lobos. LSU has shown some interest but its is still unclear if and when they will make their offer. I will tell you don’t hold your breath for offers to come in for this hybrid recieving receiver / tight end. He has already shown he can block just as well as he can catch. Flashes some impressive speed and agility with the football and can get around the edge and sweeps. One who I think will continue too raise his stock this season with his play.
