Breaking: Texas Longhorns land commitment from Nations NO.1 5-star LB Anthony Hill Jr

By:

The Longhorns have landed a commitment from the nation’s numberĀ one rated, and ranked 2023 linebacker in the country in Denton Ryans Anthony Hill Jr who had 33 total division I offers from all across the country.

The Decommitment

The Texas A&M Aggies had long been after Hill and had him as one of their top recruits on their board for the 2023 class. Aggies showed much attention to Hill with many visits between the two and many trips to College Station as well. Hill originally committed to the Aggies before the start of his senior season on July 30th, of this year.

Hill took an official visit to the Aggies on September 16th to see them face ULM. However, the Aggies have had a less than impressive season, to say the least, not living up to many expectations that may have for them going into this season. This takes a big blow to the Aggies recruiting class and could have a trickle-down effect that could not only affect the 2023 class but lower ones as well.

Longhorns Commitment

Now Hill will be taking his talents to play on the forty acres. He will be meeting a talented and young defense and really –star studded team awaiting him–on both sides of the ball. The Longhorns have one of the most–if not the most impressive 2023 classes with plenty of momentum that is currently ranked with theĀ NO.3 recruiting class according to 247 sports. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has landed his fourth 5-star prospect in the 2023 class in Hill. Others include names like Isidore Newman Quarterback, Arch Manning, and Desoto, Wide Receiver Johntay Cook II, to name a couple.

What the Longhorns are Getting

Hill, a run-stopping linebacker that can cover the entire back half of the football field by himself. A linebacker with defensive back like skills because of his speed, athleticsm and ability to cover agisnt the pass. But what is most impressive about him is not just his size, at 6-foot-2, 225 lbs, with long arms and a lean athletic build, but his talent on the field that makes him look like a man amongst boys.

Hill will take his talents to Austin, and be one that could see some early playing time for the Longhorns, and project to the early-draft rounds at the professional level.
