Friday Night Stars: Houston Offensive Standout Recruits of Week #3

Week three of Texas High School football in Houston brought about some exciting play and some nail bitter matchups. We bring you a look at some of the city’s top Friday Night Stars from last week’s games. Here are some of the top Offensive Standout Recruits who shined and played well last week.

 

 

Trey Owens (23′) | 6-4/200|  Cy Fair

Cy-Fair defeated Cy Woods 34-13. Junior Trey Owens was 16-24 passing for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Owens holds 9 offers to schools like Baylor, Texas Tech, and others. 

Owen Carter (23′) | 6-1/185 |  WR | Cy Fair

Junior Owen Carter caught six passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. Holds one offer from Rice that came late last month.  

Ethan Wyatt (23′) | 6-3/185| WR | Klein Collins

Klein Collins beat Humble Summer Creek 20-17. Ethan Wyatt had five catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. Holds four offers tp schools like Marshall, Texas Southern, and others. 

Mabrey Mettauer (24′) | 6-5/215 | QB |  The Woodlands

The Woodlands defeated Conroe Oak Ridge 45-17. Junior Mabrey Mettauer was 22-32 passing for 336 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, Mabrey threw for over 2,400 yards and 25 touchdowns. This season he is already off to a hot sart and gaining more interest. Holds 24 Scholarship offers at the moment. 

Xai’Shaun Edwards (24′) | 5-9/175| Clear Springs

Clear Springs beat Klein Forest 24-17. Junior Xai’Shaun Edwards ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Sophomore Muizz Tounkara had three catches for 23 yards. Holds six offers to schools like Texas Tech, UTSA, and others while gaining more interest this season. 

Hawkins Polley(23′) | 6-4/245 | TE | Stratford

Houston Stratford shut out Alief Hastings 56-0. Baylor tight end commit Hawkins Polley had a spectacular night and caught four passes that went for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

Andrew Marsh (24′) | 6’/160 | WR | Katy Jordan

Katy Jordan beat Katy Mayde Creek 42-15. Four-star sophomore Andrew Marsh caught four passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns. LSU, Houston, and Colorado State are all a part of his 14 total division I offers for Marsh, many of which came this year. 

Ashton Ojiaku (23′) | 6’/185 | S, ATH | Foster 

Richmond Foster shut out Rosenberg Terry 41-0. Safety prospect Ashton Ojiaku ran for 287 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries.

Mikal Harrison-Pilot (23′) | 6’/190 | S, ATH | Temple

College Station defeated Temple 45-35. Despite the loss, four-star athlete Mikal Harrison-Pilot caught 10 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Mikal is one highly rated prospect in the 2023 class that is yet to be committed. He can go play anywhere in the country and is probably enjoying the entire process with his 47 total respective offers. 

A’Marion Peterson (23′) | 6’/2000 | RB | Hirschi 

Wichita Falls Hirschi defeated Springtown 50-27. Four-star USC commit running back A’Marion Peterson ran for 178 yards on the ground and three touchdowns on 11 just carries. 

Re’Shaun Sanford (23′) | 5-7/165 | RB | Hirschi 

Harker Heights defeated Cedar Ridge 27-20. Houston commit running back Re’Shaun Sanford on 29 carries. ran for 196 yards and a touchdown. San ford is not shy to being awarded as one of the top offensive players. In 2021, he was named Texas District 12-6A Overall MVP as a junior and in 2020 he was named Texas District 12-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore.

Quintaelyn Joyner (25′) | 6-1/200 | QB | Manor

Manor beat Copperas Cove 42-15. An underclassman to know this season is Sophomore quarterback Quintaelyn Joyner. Joyner was 17-28 passing for 307 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Brother is class of 2023 4-Star running back prospect and USC commit Quinten Joyner. 

Quinten Joyner (23′) | 5-11/200 | RB | Manor

Four-star USC commit Quinten Joyner ran for 191 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries. He also caught two passes for 54 yards.

Bryce Fucik (23′) | 6-1/175 | QB | Strake Jesuit

Strake Jesuit defeated Spring 28-21. Bryce Fucik was 22-32 passing for 249 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries. Minnesota, Texas State, Sam Houston, and others have shown interest. One recruit who is expected to breakout in his senior season and pick up offers.
