2023 South Oak Cliff WR Randy Reece story behind commitment to SMU

By:

DALLAS,Tx. – South oak cliff star wide receiver Randy Reece is staying home and is committed to SMU.

“This journey has been very interesting” Randy said. No doubt it was for Reece who had a total of seventeen division I offers from school around the country.

Randy had many coaches at the next level seeking him out and trying to build a relationship with Reece, as well as get in front and get him on to campus as much as possible.

The “journey” all started Reece back on December of 2019 when he received his first scholarship offer to play football at the next level from the Kansas Jayhawks. Soon after would follow a furry of offer from school from conferences like the Big 12, SEC,Big 10 as well as others.

When making his decision, Reece and his family did some deep thought into the decision. Ultimately the decision to attend SMU would come down to basically a few things for Reece which he would later explain to us saying.”I had my pros and my cons but I had to look at the bigger picture what is the school doing for me or how is the school benefiting me outside of football.”

Reece looked at the overall big picture when making his decision to attend SMU he wanted to know he was making the best long term decision for his family, and himself that would benefit him the most to succeed, not only on the football field but off it as well.

“My family was very laid back through the process because they want what’s best for me they feel I know what a home is In college.”

Reece held offers to Kansas, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State,Toledo, Arizona, Louisville, Texas Tech,Tulsa, San Diego State, Purdue, Indiana, UNT, Texas State, ULM before ultimately committed to SMU.
