This week we have been ranking the top 2024 prospects from around the state of Texas. Today we bring you the top quarterback prospects in the 2024 class that are some of the top gunslingers and are undoubtedly names you will hear more and more about that are some of the best in the country.
(p.s we have updated this list and added a few QBs we have missed that our great fan base has brought to our attention, we take in your recommendations on players, we do our evaluation, and will add them to our list so thanks for letting us know. We will rank these new players added to the list the next time we updated our rankings which we aim to update 2-4 times per year.)
#12. Lane Stockton (24) | 6’0 160 | QB | Tomball Memorial
Lane is a quarterback who is undersized but boy does he have an arm. He can throw the ball from different dexterities, feels just as comfortable throwing on the run as in the pocket, and can deliver a nice catchable ball in the short to the intermediate passing game, or launch a deep ball and hit receivers in stride. Works the pocket beautifully and shows proper mechanics, Lane is one prospect to keep your eyes on.
#11.Logan Cundiff (24) | 6’1 | QB | Fossil Ridge
Logan is a very raw quarterback with some intangibles and attributes you’d like to see at that position. He possesses a quick release with great ball placement and touches on his throws, also shows nice velocity, squeezing throws in between double coverage. Needs some mechanical and footwork improvement, but other than that, Logan looks like an FBS/FCS caliber athlete, who has the athleticism and can throw.
#10.Arrington Maiden (24) | 6’2 180 | QB | College Station
Arrington could very well be a quarterback that is “up next”, he waited patiently behind senior QB Jett Huff but did see some action the field. Maiden can throw beautifully on the run, or in the pocket, and can put the ball on a rope to receivers. HAs adequate, height size, and athleticism to be a dominant quarterback for years to come and looks like an FBS caliber athlete, whose recruitment you could see take off this year.
#9.DJ Bailey (24) | 5’10 165 | QB | DeSoto
Dj can put the ball on a rope or float it in there, shows great footwork a quick release, and good ball placement. He shows he can march the offense downfield, delivering some quick strikes over the middle or on out routes.
#8.Karson Gordon (24) | 6’1 175 | QB | Ridge Point
Karson is very much in the developmental stage of transitioning into a prominent FBS caliber prospect at the quarterback position but poses all of the intangibles like speed and athleticism. Shows some proper mechanics, and arm strength, but can improve.
#7.JC Evans (24) | 6’5 210 | QB | Brandeis
JC is one of the most dominant dual-threat QBs out of the central Texas area regardless of class. He can make all of the throws, shows nice velocity and touch on his passes, love his leadership on the field, and will be a highly rated recruit that could move up a lot of college’s recruiting boards in the near future. Several schools from the SEC have established contact and interest.
#6.Trey Owens (24) | 6’4 195 | QB | Cy Fair
Owens has prototypical size for the quarterback position at 6-foot-4-inches, proper mechanics throwing the football, his footwork and timing are on point with receivers, and can deliver a nice catchable ball with some heat on it to receivers. Owens also shows the ability to hit receivers 50 yards plus down the field in stride. Division I caliber athlete, no offers at the moment, but that shouldn’t last too long once word gets out about this QB.
#5. Hauss Henjny (24) | 5’11 170 | QB, WR | Aledo
Hauss, a bit undersized as a QB, played much of last season running routes and catching passes backing up one of the top 2022 QB prospects in Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, a Colorado State commit. Hauss holds two division I offers from UNT and Nebraska, and interest from many others. He features a strong arm with pinpoint accuracy that can find receivers in the end-zone at will; also shows proper mechanics in his drop back and delivers beautiful tight spiral passes.
#4.Marcos Davila (24) | 6’3 205 | QB | Midland Legacy
Davila holds 4 DI offers thus far and features a lengthy, athletic frame with a strong arm that can make all of the throws. Shows some good mechanics in the pocket, and can deliver a nice catchable ball where only his receivers can catch it.
#3.Cole Welliver (24) | 6’6 200 | QB | Marcus
Cole has great prototypical size for a prominent FBS caliber prospect, with an elite deep ball and touch that can hit receivers in stride the entire length of the football field, doesn’t give to set feet to deliver a strike, and can throw on the run. Will be a prospect whose recruitment you could see take off and be in the 20-30 offer range.
#2. DJ Lagway (24) | 6’3 215 | QB | Willis
Alabama is the most recent to offer out of DJ’s 15 total DI offers. He is a long stride runner who can really hurt defenses with his legs or arm, has the ability to work the pocket, take off with the football if he doesn’t like what he see’s, and has the open field moves and speed to make defenders miss and take the football all the way to the house. Features a quick release and a rifle for an arm. Will be special at the next level and has NFL draft potential.
#1. Mabrey Mettauer (24) | 6’5 215 | QB | The Woodlands
Mabrey has the size, arm, and athletic ability to be ready for the next level. He is a strong dual-threat QB, who can plow defenders over on the way into the endzone or rifle a pass with his quick release 50 plus yards and hit receivers in stride. Will be a dominant player at the college level and has a high ceiling for long-term success in college and beyond. Holds 15 divisions I offer from schools like Cal, Florida, LSU, Miami, and most recently North Carolina to name a few.
Added QBS
Ethan Terrell (24) | 6’2 190 | QB | Lewisville
Ethan is a signal-caller that is beyond his level of maturity as a quarterback, he shows a great command of the offense and presence in the pocket, he shows off an arm he can drop deep bombs with and hit receivers 50 plus yards down the field and doesn’t have to set his feet to do it. Throws well on the run, has adequate size and height, a true dual-threat QB with the necessary tools as a passer and runner. FBS caliber prospect who is battle-tested against tough competition.
Zion Brown (24) | 6’0 175 | QB | Atascocita
Brown is a quarterback who burst onto the scene after an injury sidelined upperclassmen ahead of Brown, he stepped right in and led the offense with his athleticism, speed and & agility, and ability to rifle passes towards the sideline of over the middle. A bit undersized as a QB, but is a great athlete on the field.
Godspower Nwawuihe (24) | 5’11 190 | QB | North Garland
This is an athlete to keep your eyes on who has a cannon for an arm that can launch deep passes and hit receivers in stride. A bit undersized as a QB, which may affect his recruiting, but this athlete has the mechanics and arm strength that could put him amongst the elite.
Michael Hawkins (24) QB, Allen
