AMARILLO, Tx – One of the top defensive linemen recruits in the state of Texas; Tascosa’s Avion Carter in the class of 2023 is close to a decision with the release of his top four schools: TCU, Texas Tech, Texas & Oklahoma State.

Carter is a beast of a defensive linemen and can really plug up that defensive line and be used as a versatile player because of his size, height and speed. He plays very athletically along the defensive line, has a lengthy frame that is amble for adding more mass to at the next level.
With over 12 division I offers to schools like USC, Texas A&M, OU, and others not cracking the top of the list for Carter, its evident this decision was a well thought-out one but one that could still be kind of premature. We think Carter’s recruiting stock is still on the rise and could still generate interest from more schools this season after having terrific season the past couple of years.
In 2020, Avion was named first team selection as a sophomore in district 2-5A-I, and also last year picking up Defensive Player of Year honors as a junior for Tascosa.
Experts think Texas is a favorite for Carter and could be ending up taking his talents to play in front of Bevo and fans on the 40 acres in Austin.
