DRIPPING SPRINGS, TX – National signing day brings huge story lines that shock many. National Signing day kicked off with a bang with one of the nations highly ranked quarterbacks in the 2023 class in Dripping Springs Austin Novosad flipping his commitment from Baylor to Oregon.
After a terrific season for Austin, the ducks had their eyes on the young star quarterback. Oregon offered Novosad yesterday, no time was waisted as today is National signing day, and Austin took full advantage of the offer, and jumped on the opportunity to play for one of the top premier programs in the country.
Baylor was one of the very first schools to offer Austin back in June of 2021 and kept the relationship very close leading up to his commitment this time last year in December of 2021. However, after catching fire late last year. The interest in Austin has not stopped. Austin has taken visits, officially or unofficially and recieved other intreginging offers from schools like Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M to name a few. He could go and play at any school in the country at some of the nations best programs, including the ducks.
The relationship with Novosad and Oregon was probably kept a bit under the radar and was a late blooming one, but also one Novosad could not pass up. With the Bears going 6-6 this season respectively; things possibly did not look well enough for Novosad compared to Oregons season with a 9-3 record.
Oregon currently ranks 14th overall in the 2023 class per 247sports.com. Why not the top ten? Possibly becuase the ducks hit the portal hard this year and had one of the top five classes in the nation ranked 4th. Now with the addition of Novosad a 4-star prospect, more could follow. The ducks already have a lethal combo in Novosad, and fellow 4-star Oregons duck commits wide receiver Ashton Cozart.
